How quickly can you fill an open case?

Are your caregivers already certified?
Yes. We verify HHA and PCA certificates as part of our intake process. Documents are reviewed before we refer any aide to an agency. We also help caregivers assemble complete onboarding files to reduce back-and-forth at your end.
Do you cover overnight and live-in cases?
Yes. We have caregivers available for overnight, 24-hour, and live-in cases. These cases sometimes take a day or two longer to fill given the scheduling requirements โ€” let us know your timeline.
Can caregivers complete onboarding at your offices?
Yes โ€” this is one of our key advantages. Our Bronx, Queens, and Long Island offices are available for in-person applications, document collection, and onboarding support. This significantly reduces the administrative load on your agency's staff.

Autism FAQs

Common questions about autism support in NYC

What is OPWDD and does my child qualify?
OPWDD โ€” the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities โ€” is a New York State agency that funds services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism. Eligibility is based on diagnosis and functional assessment. Contact us and we'll help you understand whether your family member qualifies and how to begin the enrollment process.
How do I access ABA therapy through OPWDD?
ABA therapy for individuals with autism can be funded through OPWDD waiver programs. The process involves OPWDD enrollment, assessment, and service authorization. We help families navigate this process and connect them with approved ABA providers in their area.
Can I use OPWDD to hire a caregiver for my child at home?
Yes. Through OPWDD's Self-Direction program, families can use their allocated budget to hire caregivers, including family members in some cases, and access a range of community support services. We provide Self-Direction brokerage services to help you manage this.
Do you serve adults with autism as well as children?
Yes. OPWDD serves individuals of all ages with qualifying developmental disabilities, including adults with autism. We help families of both children and adults access appropriate services, whether that's in-home care, community habilitation, or Self-Direction.

We provide Self-Direction Broker services to help families manage their OPWDD budget, build a care plan, hire providers, and access the full range of services for their family member in New York.

What is Self-Direction?

You choose the services. We handle the rest.

OPWDD's Self-Direction program gives families the ability to manage their own budget and choose the providers and services that work best for their family member โ€” rather than being assigned services by a traditional provider agency.

Help you choose and hire providers
Coordinate services โ€” ABA, therapy, caregivers

Your OPWDD Self-Direction budget can be used for a wide range of services based on your family member's individual plan:

Home care and respite services
ABA therapy
OT, PT, and speech therapy
Community habilitation activities
Assistive technology and devices
Transportation to services
Environmental modifications

Not enrolled in OPWDD yet?

We can help you through the eligibility and enrollment process before you start Self-Direction. Contact us to find out where to begin.

Self-Direction FAQs

Common questions about OPWDD Self-Direction

Who is eligible for Self-Direction?
Self-Direction is available to individuals enrolled in OPWDD who meet eligibility criteria. Generally, you must have a qualifying developmental disability (including autism, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, or related conditions) and be enrolled in an OPWDD waiver program. Contact us to help assess your eligibility.
What does a Self-Direction broker actually do?
A Self-Direction broker helps families manage the financial and administrative aspects of their OPWDD Self-Direction plan. This includes developing the budget, processing payroll for hired workers, ensuring OPWDD compliance, maintaining records, and helping families navigate plan changes. Think of us as your administrative partner.
Can I hire a family member as a caregiver through Self-Direction?
In some cases, yes. OPWDD Self-Direction does allow certain family members to be hired as paid workers, subject to specific eligibility rules. We can help you understand what is allowed in your specific situation and manage the administrative requirements if a family member is hired.
How do I get started with Self-Direction?
The first step is OPWDD enrollment if you're not already enrolled. If you are enrolled, contact us for a free consultation. We'll review your current situation, explain how Self-Direction works, and help you begin the process of setting up your plan and selecting a budget year.

Training FAQs

HHA training questions answered

How long does HHA training take in New York?
New York State requires a minimum of 75 hours of HHA training, which typically takes 2-4 weeks depending on the program schedule. Some fast-track programs may condense this further. Contact any of the schools listed above to ask about their specific program lengths.
Is HHA training free in NYC?
Some home care agencies in New York City sponsor free HHA training in exchange for a commitment to work with that agency after certification. Independent training schools charge a fee. Contact us and we can help you understand your options based on your situation.
Can I find a job right after completing HHA training?
Yes โ€” that's exactly what we help with. Once you have your HHA certificate, apply through our caregiver placement program. We connect you with agencies that have immediate openings so you can start working as quickly as possible after completing your training.
What's the difference between HHA and PCA?
An HHA (Home Health Aide) can provide basic health-related services in addition to personal care โ€” including tasks like taking vital signs and some medication assistance, under a nurse's supervision. A PCA (Personal Care Aide) provides personal care assistance but without health-related tasks. HHA training requires more hours and is typically paid at a higher rate.

About Recruitment NYC

We are Connecting Caregivers with Quality Home Care across NYC, Long Island, and Westchester.

Who we are

New York's connection point for home care

Recruitment NYC was built to solve a specific problem: the home care industry in New York is fragmented. Caregivers with certificates can't find agencies. Students who want to work in home care don't know which training schools to trust.

We built a single network that serves all four groups โ€” with real offices, real staff, and real results across New York City, Long Island, and Westchester.

Our team includes multilingual staff who understand the communities we serve. We work with families, agencies, and caregivers from all backgrounds and all five boroughs.

SMS Consent Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2024  |  Last Updated: June 2026

This SMS Consent Policy explains how Recruitment NYC uses text messaging (SMS) to communicate with caregivers, agencies, families, and individuals who have opted in to receive messages from us.

1. Who Sends These Messages

Text messages are sent by Recruitment NYC. We may contact you from one or more phone numbers depending on the nature of your inquiry and the staff member assisting you. We use manual messaging systems to communicate โ€” we do not use automated or robocall systems. For questions about which number contacted you, reach us at info@recruitmentnyc.com.

2. Types of Messages We Send

When you opt in to receive SMS messages from Recruitment NYC, you may receive:

  • Job alerts โ€” notifications about new HHA or PCA job openings that match your profile and location
  • Appointment reminders โ€” reminders for scheduled in-person appointments at our offices
  • Application updates โ€” status updates on your caregiver application or agency staffing request
  • Service information โ€” information about OPWDD programs, CPR training dates, or HHA school opportunities
  • General follow-up โ€” responses to your inquiries submitted through our website or in person
  • Promotional messages โ€” special offers, events, new services, or opportunities we think may be relevant to you based on your interest in our services
  • Training and certification updates โ€” information about upcoming CPR classes, HHA training programs, or continuing education opportunities
  • Community and industry news โ€” updates relevant to home care workers, agencies, and families in the New York area including regulatory changes, pay rate updates, and OPWDD program changes

You may opt out of any or all of these message types at any time by replying STOP or contacting us directly. Opting out of marketing messages does not affect transactional messages related to an active application or appointment unless you specifically request that as well.

3. How to Opt In

You may opt in to receive SMS messages from Recruitment NYC by:

  • Providing your phone number and checking the SMS consent box on any form on our website
  • Providing your phone number and verbal or written consent in person at one of our offices
  • Initiating a text conversation with us at 347-629-9916 or via WhatsApp at 917-653-8070

Consent is not a condition of receiving our services. You may use Recruitment NYC's services without consenting to receive SMS messages.

4. How to Opt Out

You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by:

  • Replying STOP directly to the phone number that sent you the message โ€” this ensures your opt-out is applied to that specific number. If you receive messages from more than one of our numbers, please reply STOP to each number separately.
  • Calling us at 347-629-9916 and requesting to be removed from all text communications across all numbers
  • Emailing info@recruitmentnyc.com with "Opt Out SMS" in the subject line and we will remove you from all SMS communications

After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message from that number and then no further SMS messages from it. Opting out of SMS does not affect your ability to use our services or contact us by phone, email, or in person.

5. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your interaction with our services. Caregivers actively seeking placement may receive more frequent messages during active job searches. You can reduce message frequency by replying LESS or contacting us directly.

6. Message and Data Rates

Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan. Recruitment NYC does not charge for SMS messages, but your carrier may charge for incoming or outgoing texts. Check with your carrier if you are unsure about your plan's messaging rates.

7. Privacy of Your Phone Number

By using our services and providing your phone number, you acknowledge and agree that your contact information and related personal details may be shared with third-party care providers as part of our placement and referral process. This may include:

  • Licensed home care agencies seeking to hire HHAs and PCAs
  • OPWDD-approved service providers and support organizations
  • Self-Direction fiscal intermediaries and brokers
  • HHA training schools and CPR certification providers
  • ABA therapy, OT, PT, and speech therapy providers (for families seeking referrals)
  • Other healthcare and community-based service providers relevant to your specific needs

These providers may contact you directly by phone, text, or email regarding services, job opportunities, or care options relevant to your inquiry. Recruitment NYC is not responsible for the communication practices of third-party providers once your information has been shared.

Your information will not be sold to data brokers or shared with unrelated third parties for general marketing purposes unrelated to home care, caregiving, or OPWDD services.
